The RMCRA

August 29, 2011

Rocky Mountain Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Association
P.O. Box 1171
Greeley, CO 80632

To All RMCRA Members,

We have had many successes as an organization and Chapter of AACVPR, including, but not limited to the following examples:

1.) Created new Regional Representative positions
2.) Revised the RMCRA Bylaws
3.) Developed a wonderful new website
4.) Selected as a Joint Pilot Program with AACVPR
5.) Held and managed great Annual Conferences
6.) Awarded travel/conference fees to the RMCRA membership
7.) Maintained strong, cohesive bonds as professionals

In addition to our successes, we have long struggled in the following areas:

1.) Lack of Board Succession and membership involvement (5 current open positions on 9 member board)
2.) Spread out geographic location (Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico)
3.) Lack of membership growth, program planning/support
4.) Viability of the current structure of RMCRA

Therefore, despite all of these successes and variety of efforts of our Board and membership, it is with great sadness that I announce that the Board has painstakingly and unanimously voted to dissolve RMCRA. We are working with the leaders of AACVPR, a Lawyer, and a Certified Public Accountant to appropriately wind-down operations. We will update you via email as we continue through this process.

Although the Board believes that it is in the best interest of RMCRA and its membership to dissolve, we encourage you to consider new ways in which cardiopulmonary rehabilitation professionals in this region may continue networking and supporting one another. I highly encourage all of you to join AACVPR as of October 1, 2011 to maintain professional communication and regular updates for the profession. AACVPR will uphold your annual dues as our National Organization. (Note: Pam Haines, RRT and I will remain the local MAC Committee members and Reimbursement Representatives through AACVPR. She can be contacted at phaines@phs.org.)

I would like to thank all of the past and present RMCRA Board members for their dedication and devotion over the years. I have truly enjoyed my time as President with RMCRA. Those of us who are current on the board welcome your comments and concerns as we move through this process of dissolution. Please feel free to contact me or the Board at any time.

I and the Board of Directors extend our deepest thanks to the entire membership for providing us the opportunity to serve RMCRA. Please contact me at dml472@aol.com if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Denise LaRocca, MS, CES, RCEP, FAACVPR
President of RMCRA
